Dr. Pearl K. Dowe

Dr. Dowe is an associate professor of political science faculty member in the Department of Political Science and an affiliated faculty member of the Africa and African American Studies Program. Dr. Dowe has published numerous articles and book chapters articles that have appeared in journals such as Journal of Black Studies, Presidential Studies Quarterly and Race Class and Gender, Political Psychology, Polity and Social Science Quarterly. She is currently researching attitudes, behaviors, and campaign challenges of African American women.
Dr. Dowe has been recognized by the University of Arkansas community for her commitment to diversity and students at the University. She has been awarded the Fulbright College's Nudie E. Williams Diversity Award, the NAACP Faculty of the Year Award, and the University of Arkansas Greek Life's Order of Omega Faculty of the Year Award.
A native of Savannah, GA, she earned a B.A. in political science from Savannah State College and her Ph.D. in political science from Howard University.
